The Steel Tube Institute focuses on the architecture of the four block long space frame covering Fremont Street. The frame was designed by The Jerde Partnership International of Venice, California and is made completely out of steel Hollow Structural Sections (HSS). The 800 feet of steel tubing is 1400 feet long, 100 feet across, and 90 feet high. In the daytime it screens out approximately 60% of the desert sun, and at night serves as the stage for the world's largest computer light show with 2.1 million lights and a 540,000 watt sound system.
