Before it was the Fremont Street Experience, the area between Las Vegas Boulevard and Main Street was referred to as the "Glitter Gulch". However, as more casinos opened on the Strip, the downtown casinos on Fremont began to lose business. Thus began the $70 million dollar project known as The Fremont Street Experience. Several times throughout the night on the hour, all of the casinos on Fremont Street turn off their outdoor neon lights to showcase the overhead light and sound shows. It is a must see if you are planning a trip to Vegas.
